EnVyUs advance to semis over C9

EnVyUs advanced to the semi-finals over Cloud9 in Vilnius after the Americans' poor performance near the end of the maps (16-13 on de_mirage, 16-12 on de_overpass).
Coming into their quarter-final series at Game Show Global eSports Cup 2016 Finals, both teams had trouble. EnVyUs finished their group in the second place after beating CLG twice, once in the opening match and once in the decider. Their loss against dignitas was the cause of them playing in the decider.
Cloud9, on the other hand, only managed to finish third. Their loss to G2 in the opening match pushed them to an elimination match which they have come out on top against Method. Their decider match versus G2 was a harsh loss for them and led them to play against EnVyUs.
C9 had a dynamite start on de_mirage's CT-side after winning both the pistol round and the first gun round. EnVyUs answered right back with two of their own but the American team could not be stopped as they were ahead 12-3 at halftime.
kennyS paved the way for the comeback on the first map
Everything was set for Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert & co to pick up the first map but EnVyUs woke up and got the first four rounds of the CT-side, losing only two players in total. C9's first round came in the twenty-sixth one but the strong-willed Frenchmen proceeded to tie the score at 13-13. Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir and Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham’s effort after this point proved to be insufficient as EnVyUs completed their marvelous comeback (16-13).
The French team kicked off the second map (de_overpass) on the CT-side by winning the pistol and cleaning up their opponents in the anti-ecos. The fourth round saw Cloud9 running out of time to plant the bomb despite being having a 2v3 advantage. After losing eighteen rounds out of the last nineteen rounds in the series, C9 finally commenced a streak, winning five rounds consecutively and tying it 5-5.
shroud's great second map performance could not help Cloud9
The Americans could have won the eleventh round as well when Mike "shroud" Grzesiek went huge and turned a 2v4 disadvantage to a 1v1 situation against Kenny "kennyS" Schrub but couldn't close it out as the time ran out. The next round saw once again, shroud against kennyS but this time the Canadian triumphed. The half-time score was 8-7 in favor of n0thing’s team.
This time around, C9 were the ones who snatched the pistol and the gun rounds which extended the deficit to five (12-7). As usual, C9 suddenly stopped winning rounds, giving the lead to EnVyUs on a silver platter (13-12). Another round by the Frenchmen triggered a timeout for the American side. EnVyUs managed to close it out 16-12 and eliminated Cloud9 in Vilnius.
